May – 15 – 31. My very dear friend Mrs. Slagel: - How good of you to write me, Some-how I felt that something was the matter, and of course I was not mistaken. It seems so sad to think that I shall not see Mr. Slagle until I cross over on the other side. I do not dread the going now like I did years ago. I have so many dear ones over there that I feel that it will be rather nice to renew old acquaintances, and to find my dear Mother and Father whom I have never seen. Then too if we ever are to enter into the fullness of Joy we must change our state if the ugly, formidable worm, had not ceased to be a worm, it would never have become the
