I \ < * Mr. J. A. Nichols, X, v Pres't Asheville Board of Trade, Asheville, N.C. Dear Sir:- I am in receipt of your letter of recent date in regard to meeting of the Forestry Convention in your city. We will take pleasure in appointing delegates, and hope to find some parties who will be able to attend. We are interested here on the subject of an independent telephone exchange. I notice that Asheville has an independent telephone exchange and that your Board of Trade was instrumental in its establish ment. If you will kindly write me a short statement in regard to the causes which produced this independent telephone exchange and the action taken by your body in the matter I would appreciate the same very much. I would also like to know if your independent exchange has been successful, and what is its present number of subscribers and rates of charge. Yours truly, y\ CyV3,J^ a. •£ r< (Xv^\ ,
