  • J. A. HOLMES, State Geologist. NORTH CAROLINA GEOLOGICAL SURVEY, CHAPEL HILL, N. C. September 26, 1901, Dr. C. P. Ambler, Asheville, N.C. My dear Dr. Ambler: I am just in receipt of your recent letter accompanied by the printed matter relative to the Appalachian Forest Reserve. I will do what I can towards securing a number of additional copies of the Senate document to which, your letter refers. In the fourth edition of yotir little handbook, on the Appalachian National Park, pages 7 and 8, in the list of endorsements, I see no mention of the action taken by the National Board of Trade or the action taken by the Commercial bodies at Charlotte, Raleigh, Nashville, Chattanooga, Memphis, Knoxville etc. If you havejino record as to these I will endeavor to help you supply the deficiency. Many thanks for the copy of your paper in the Century, which I had already read in its original form. It is a very good paper and I am glad to know that you have had some reprints made for further distribution. Yours sincerely,, State Geologist.
