FEES ADMISSION CHARGES 11. Charges for admission to the grounds will be as follows: Day Night For each person over twelve years of age . $0.50 $0.25 Children over five and under twelve years .25 .10 Season tickets for persons over twelve years of age 1.50 Season tickets for children over five and under twelve years .75 Note.—A season ticket admits the holder to the grounds every day and night during the fair. It is good for admission at any time or as often as Liie holder sees fit to use it. Season tickets are not transferable. 12. Drivers and chauffeurs as well as concessionaires and their helpers will be required to pay the regular admission fee or buy a season ticket. Exhibitors tickets for the fair must be procured by the exhibitor at the time he gets his entry number from the Secretary. These tickets are not transferable. PERMITS AND PRIVILEGES 13. Space for permits and privileges may be procured by applying to the president or secretary of the fair. The fee for space will be payable in advance; the rate ranging from $1.00 to $2.00 per front foot depending upon the general location of same. Each concessionaire must confine himself to the space assigned to him. Failure to do this will subject him to forfeiture of his privilege without reimbursement. The right is reserved to reject any application for space which may be made, or to cancel at any time any contract previously entered into.

This program for the 1929 Cherokee Indian Fair is 23 pages and documents the fair that was held on October 8, 9, 10, and 11 of that year. The fair was first formally established and held regularly in 1914. Since it began, one of its main functions was to sponsor competitions that provided a showcase for Cherokee crafts. A tradition that continues today, at the annual fair, the Cherokee display a wide variety of high quality work. The fair programs were usually 20 to 30 pages each and listed the competition categories and the monetary prizes offered. This 1929 program is the first known program published and is found in the Special Collections of Western Carolina University's Hunter Library. At this 16th annual fair, prizes were offered for numerous agricultural products, Indian ball games and blow gun contests, as well as Arts and Crafts and a variety of textiles under the category of "Ladies' Work."
