  • MAP JO. CT-6 HANNAH CEMETERY (NEAR THE HOAGLAN PLACE) LOCATION: (Our Records) - "The Hoaglan Place," 1,000 ft. NNE of sharp curve on NC Highway 284 just north of Sal Patch Gap. (Trout's Records) - Up Hoglen Branch approximately 0.2 mile from north of NC 284. NO. OF GRAVES: 12 LAST BURIAL: 1930 DESCRIPTION: (Our Records) - On Park Tract No. 299 conveyed to the State by David J. Boyd, deed recorded 20 July 1929, in Book 81, page 34. No mention made of cemetery. Maintained and fenced. (Calhoun's Records) - South District (Haywood); Deed No. 4; File No. Vol. 7; P6. Not listed in Notice of Assumption of Jurisdiction. On Park inventory for minimum maintenance which involves mowing of weeds once annually. Cemetery is in fair condition. (Trout's Records) - Structure No. CT23. Size: approximately 50' X 65'. Cemetery is enclosed by woven wire fence in poor condition. Cemetery is in fairly poor condition and needs raking, seeding and fertilizing. Graves need leveling and markers need resetting and stabilizing. There are signs of hogs having been in the cemetery. The path from NC 284 to the cemetery is recognizable and passable but needs brushing and clearing in a couple of places. Cemetery has been decorated within the last year. Present condition as of May, 1976: deteriorated. UTM Reference: (A) Zone: 17; Easting: 314040; Northing: 3946340.
