CT -2 HANNAH CEMETERY (LITTLE CATALOOCHEE) LOCATION: (Our Records -Maintenance & Rehabilitation Study) -A 0.2 mile trail joins the Little Cataloochee Road at a point approximately 1.2 miles off North Carolina 285. (Book on Cemeter Inventor -North of road to Little Cataloochee Church. (Trout's Records - 0.2 mile north of the junction of Little Cataloochee Road and Mt. Sterling jeep trail. NO. OF GRAVES: (Our Records) -52; (Trout's Records) -54 LAST BURIAL: (Our Records) - 1956; (Trout's Records) - 1975 DESCRIPTION: (Our Records) - On Park Tract No. 252 conveyed to State of North Carolina by J. B. Hannah by deed recorded 23 June 1930. No reservation for cemetery made in deed. Cemetery still in use for burials. Maintained by relatives and National Park Service (minimum assistance involving weed cutting). Although cemetery is in good state of maintenance, it is located in area of poor soil and needs fertilizing badly. Trail to cemetery in fair shape but not on inventory. Fenced: wire fence with steel posts. (Calhoun's Records) - South District (Haywood); Deed No. 13; Q4. The grantors request that the land con­veyed shall be maintained as a burying ground by National Park Service. (Trout's Records) - Size: approximately 50' X 110'. Cemetery is enclosed by a woven ·wire fence in good condition. Cemetery is in very good condition and needs little maintenance other than some seeding and fertilizing in a couple of places. A few markers may need stabilizing. Mt. Sterling Trail from Little Cataloochee Road to cemetery is in fairly good condition and passable by car. Structure No. Cll9.
