Dear Wife I have had a letter written to send to you for some Time by Harve Cochran and I thought I would add a few Lines as it has been written so long This leaves me and all the rest of the Boys well and I hope it may find you & the children enjoying the same blessing of heaven I received a letter from you of the 18th of April it was just six days on the road I was verry glad to hear from you and hear that you was all well I was also glad to hear that Doc Daniels had got back and Practseing I feel now like You were safe as far as sickness

In this letter of May 2, 1864, Henry Marshall Misemer (1832-1865) writes his "Dear wife," Martha Misemer, from Nashville, Tennessee. He was glad to hear from her and that the children are well. He tries to answer questions about his business and tells her to try to remember what he has told her because he has not thought of business since leaving. He lets her know he has no secrets and if he has forgotten to answer a question, then she should ask him again. He shares that he likes the names Laura Caroline or Martha for their unborn child who they refer to as "dollie." He reports the promotions of men in his company - Jacob Brient, A. C. Derrik, and Clint Norvel.
