  • Cross-country has impressive showing in the Bluegrass State By Zachary Colburn wenevismagazine The Catamount cross-country teams traveled Lup tothe state of Kentucky for the Greater Louisville Classic on the University of Louisville campus. Both teams had commendable showings in a race that had so many teams compete that they ended Up having to have two separate races. Both teams Fan in the Blue Division, race with the women's team finishing 12 out of a field of 24 teams. The mens team took fifth place in their race out of a field of 31 teams. The women's team was able to amass 300 points, 16 points behind 11" piace St. Louis University. Murray State University won the race with 116 points, beating second-place Middle Tennessee State University by just two points. Junior Kerrie Savery had her second-best individual performance of the season with a third place finish and a time of 19:15. Sophomore Skye Aiello was the only other Catamount runner to finish in the top 10, finishing 10* with a time of 19:56. The next Catamount runner to finish did not come in until Freshman Brittany Beker, who finished 86", crossed the finish line at 21:34. Sophomore Ann Wagner came in 22 seconds later to finish 108. Freshman Annie Bailey crossed the finish line 10 seconds later for a 117 place finish. Sophomore Jenna Hester would round out the scoring for the team with a 121% place finish at a time of 22:09. The mens team had two runners finish in the top 25 that paced them to the fifth place finish in the race with 162 points, 18 points behind fourth- place Marian College. Lindenwood University from St. Charles, Mo., placed all five of their runners in the top 25, including three in the top 10, to win the mens race with 47 points. Western's team leader, Dan Fassinger lead the Catamounts by finishing in fith place finish with at time of 26:11. Sophomore Field Miller was the other Catamount runner to finish in the top 25 with a time of 27:28, good for 24 place. Freshman Stephen Hammond finished 10 spots later at 34% with a time of 27:49. Sophomore Jesse Ramirez crossed the finish line nine seconds later for the 46 place finish. Freshman Jake Clawson was the only other Catamount runner to finish in the top 400 with his 79 place finish at a time of 28:35.
