Five-on-five basketball full swing, and several perennial favorites are pounding the hardwood en route to the championship titles. On the mens side, Ballin out of Control, last year's all- campus champions, are back at it this year having won both games thus far played. In their bracket is the SWAT Team, also 2- 0, and looking strong towards being a contender. The all-campus runner-up from last year, Hypnotized Minds, is also fairing well and defeating opponents en route to remaining undefeated. The WCU Rebels and the Muresans are also worthy of watching. Both were conference champions last year, and the Muresans, named for their big man, have been making short work of teams so far. Also a conference champion, the Bentonites look to capitalize on their performance last year and years before to continue to make the playoffs. A team that may tum out as a surprise is the PE Majors, who were national league champions last year, and this year are currently leading the independent mens all-campus team point standings. With the women, many new team faces are showing through this year, and many perennial favorites are maintaining their reign. The AllCampus champions from last year, the Ladies in Red are back to run the hardwood for a second year and are thus far proving to be a formidable force. Last years all-campus runner-up, the Slammers will look to end that run for the Ladies in Red and hope to make amends on last year. The Cherokee Girls have put together a team again and should fair well with members from the girs high schoo! team from Cherokee HS that won a state title. BSU women shouldn't be overlooked, as they are currently on top the all-campus point standings, and in the sorority league, Alpha Xi Delta is currently 1-1 but will look to repest 2s champions this year. Had someone checked the line-up, though, there might have been a bit more reason for concern. Freshman Justin Lane, a Scott Hall RA, has been making quite a bit of noise in the intramural competitions this year. During fall semester, Lane competed in many events around the intramurals department and came out on top in several just as well. An avid swimmer and cyclist, Lane succeeded in winning several events during the swim meet and was also a member of the 4x50m freestyle relay that took the all-campus title. More impressively, Lane accomplished the feat only a pair of hours after competing in the indoor triathlon, also in which he took an all-campus title. In addition to individual titles, Lane has been a member of several teams that have faired well in water polo and ultimate frisbee. If this rsum wasn't enough to prove that Justin is a heavy competitor, he took on the racquetball challenge held at the start of the semester. No surprise to many, he once again emerged victorious. With many events to follow the rest of this semester, the question is, who will be next to step up and try to take the spotlight?
