The spring quarter has come at last. Make good while the sun shines. In a little while, "not now" becomes "never." Work is persistent; it will follow you unless you drive it. A good thing will go a long way, but even rubber tires in the stretch. Listen practice teachers, a little studying will keep your conscience clear. The only thing that beats a good wife is a bad husband. The more a boy goes to college, the greater is his need for an education. Men worry a lot about their hair- when it's half gone. Nature gave us rivers, but Henry provides the Fords. "Women's silence speaks in tones of thunder," says a headline. How does anyone know? Some people who are always talking about what they are going to do never do much. The fellow looking for a soft spot in this life, generally finds it under Student Councils Honored With Tea A lovely tea was given in the reception room of Davies Hall Monday afternoon, March 25th, by Misses Gladstone and Bancroft in honor of the retiring and newly elected members of the Student Council. The guests were met at the door by Miss Gladstone and were taken immediately to the reception room, which was beautifully decorated with spring flowers. The group participated in several interesting contests, and prizes were awarded to the winners. After the games, tempting refreshments suggestive of Easter were served and enjoyed. Those present Mrs. Posey, Mrs. Seymour, Misses Corrine Wools, Edith Daniels, Lenna Marr, Lace McLean, Selma Reid Broome, Lottie DeBord, Hattie Wilson, Erma Patterson, Madge Stallings, Georgia Belle Cooper, Marion Stewart, Ruby Griffin, Enola Arring- ton, Osie Smith, Leila Mason, Carmen King. Students Serve At Afternoon Tea On Friday afternoon, March 22, the second of the Student Teas was given in the reception hall of Moore Dormitory. Officers of the Columbian and Erosophian Societies presided at the tea tables. They were assisted by other members of the societies. During the hour enjoyed over the tea cups, the guests were delightfully entertained by several musical selections rendered by the Columbian quartet, Miss Wools accompanying. The guests included visitors from the community, members of the faculty, and many new students. We are glad to announce the opening of the new College Inn Sandwich Shop under the management of Mr A. G. Cagle. We feel that this new cafe is quite an addition to our town and that it will receive the hearty welcome from our students and teachers. Carrie: Mark, how in the world do the basketball boys ever get clean? Mark: Ah! don't be silly! What do you suppose the scrub team is for? Mrs. Posey: Nice young girls shouldn't hold a man's hand. Ruth: Oh, yes. Nowadays a nice girl has to hold a man's hand. Bhas K. Estridge: My roommate sui vanity. She stands before the mirror for hours admiring herself. V. Colley: That ain't vanity; that's imagination. Conley: Don't worry, there are plenty of fish in the lake. Cope: Yeh, an' I'm the guy who left them there. Erosophian Society Elects New Officers The Erosophian Literary Society had a very interesting program on Spring last Saturday evening. This was very appropriate and in keeping with the coming of new students, the work that is being done on the campus, spring fever, and "In the spring a young man's fancy"—Following the program officers for the new quarter were elected. They are: Attley Hunter, president; Jule Boyd, vice-president; Elizabeth Griffin, secretary; James Osborne, treasurer; Edgar Jaynes, censor; Louise Perry, chaplain, and Miss Reams, critic. The meanest man in the world was the man who put a tack in an electric chair. Love makes you dizzy and keeps you busy, but dizziness is bad for business. You know, with women and junior girls wearing dresses the same length, conductors are having lots of trouble collecting fares. Snappy Sam says: "I told her there was a fool in every family, and she asked me if I was the only child in our family." When we think of how middle-aged people act, they must feel younger than they look. President Hunter Is Given Surprise Party For Birthday When President Hunter came home from his office about 8:30 Tuesday night, March 26, he was surprised to be greeted by a large number of his friends and neighbors who had gathered to honor his birthday anniversary. Mrs. Hunter had succeeded in sending out invitations and having the party assembled without his getting the slightest idea of what was taking place. In order to keep up the spirit of school days, two written examinations were given in the form of contests, which afforded much fun and laughter. So far as could be learned, everybody passed the examinations with high grades. Delightful refreshments consisting of bavarian cream and cake were served. Among those present were Mr. and Mrs. F. H. Brown, Mr. and Mrs. E. H. Stillwell, Mr. and Mrs. Jno. S. Trotter, Mr. and Mrs. L. A. Ammon, Mr. and Mrs. T. D. Hefner, Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Allen, Mr. W. E. Bird, Mr. R. L. Madison, Miss Alice Benton, Miss Edna Reams, Mrs. Lucy Posey. THE SMART HATS HUG THE NECK AND ARE "OFF-THE-FOREHEAD" There is a certain primness about this low cut neckline . . . charmingly belied by the frank revealing of forehead and face.
