  • 8 WCnewsmagazine 10/5 University officers assisted officers with a fugitive squad serve warrants on a non-student who was working with a contractor on campus. War- rants were served without incident. 10/7 Two male non-students were issued citations for underage possession of alcohol. Officers assisted Westerns EMS with a male student who over- dosed on alcohol. The student was transported to Harris Regional Hos- pital. Officers investigated the attempted breaking and entering of a state- owned vehicle. 10/8 Two female students were referred to Judicial Affairs for putting alcohol in the punch at a social event. The referral was due to several under- age students drinking the punch-- not knowing it contained alcohol. Officers assisted Westerns EMS with an unconscious person at the | Fine and Performing Arts Center. The _ Person was transported to Harris Re- _ gional Hospital. "40/9 A female non-student was found un- responsive due to an alcohol over- dose. Although the female is not a student at Western, she is a student at another state university. She was _ transported to Harris Regional Hospi-. tal by Westerns EMS. 10/10 Officers responded to a fight call at the entrance of the University Center. When officers arrived the parties had left and the witnesses could not iden- tify those involved. 10/11 A male student pled guilty to resist, delay and obstruct an officer in a September incident in which the stu- dent had a knife and was highly intoxicated. He received a year of un- supervised probation with a 45 day POLICE FILES 10/12 Officers assisted Jackson County Deputies with a stabbing incident in which a male student was injured. A male student was arrested by Jack- son County. Officers and charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury. The injured student was treated and released at Harris Regional Hospital. 10/14 Officers assisted Sylva officers by transporting a female to the Jackson County Detention Center. The female faces charges from the Sylva Police Department. Officers investigated a report of ha- rassing phone calls to a female stu- dent from friends of her ex boyfriend. Officers responded to a distraught student. The student voluntarily sub- mitted to counseling and medical care. 10/17 Officers responded to a dispute be- tween roommates over. damages to prescription eye glasses. 10/18 A male student was arrested for driv- ing while impaired and causing a wreck. He was also charged with hit and run, and resisting a public officer. _He was jailed under a $3,500 secure bond at the Jackson County Deten- tion Center. 10/19 * Officers issued a citation to a male student for displaying an unauthor- ized handicap placard and for park- ing in a handicapped space while dis- playing the unauthorized placard. 10/20 Agroup of students sitting at a table in front of Scott Hall reported someone threw what is believed to be a paint ball grenade at them. The grenade landed on the table spraying the stu- dents with light blue paint and getting paint on a nearby car. The grenade does not use any type of explosives. Paint ball paint is washable. Astudent reported that someone took a bottle of prescription medicine from her purse at a fraternity party. Officers responded to an alarm caused when a soccer ball struck a fire head. 10/21 Two students were taken to Harris Regional Hospital in reference to ac- cidentally bumping into each other following an intramural football game. Someone threw the ball and they both lunged for it. They collided and both suffered head injuries. Neither were admitted to the hospital. 10/22 Jackson County requested University Police assistance at a domestic dis- pute involving a female student and a male non-student. The male left the apartment voluntarily and the female was advised to contact law enforce- ment if anything further should de- velop. 10/25 Officers are dNesigaiidg an. inci- | dent in which a student's tires were. slashed. 10/26 Officers received a complaint regard- ing inappropriate comments made by ~ construction workers toward female students. Officers stopped a vehicle for running a stop sign. They then learned the driver, a female student, had an out- standing warrant for failure to appear, driving with a revoked license, and failure to stop for a stop sign. 10/27 Officers observed a female student | park in a handicap space. When of. ficers questioned the student they de- termined she had been drinking. She was cited for underage drinking and a handicap space viola- tion. BUSTED! eoneee ee ee
