  • October '95 Ebony Chronicles Executive Orders Greetings, my brothers and sisters! As president of The Organization of Ebony Students, I am looking forward to a phenomenal school year. The theme for OES this year is "Love, Within !" Yes, unity is needed world-wide just as well as campus-wide, but we must concentrate on the things that are within our reach. Those things are OURSELVES. We cannot expect to have true HARMONY amongst this campus if we are not UNIFIED amongst ourselves. We surely will not have unity amongst ourselves unless we have LOVE within! It is time that we come together to help diversify WCU. One person can easily get overlooked, but when hundreds of voices are spoken in a tactful and peaceful way, things can be changed for the better. And today I say, " As we search for UNITY we must have LOVE within." Throughout the year come out and support OES, NPHC, the WCU Inspirational Choir, Black Theater Ensemble, and Project Care. We can easily plan activities for the school year, but without participation and support from you, this school year will not be a successful one. Once again, I encourage you to spread LOVE as we conquer to unify. Sincerely, L Tyreace L. Dixon Introducing Miss OES "A night of glamour and glitz has just begun. So sit back in your seats to enjoy and have lots of fun. Remember when the night is at it's end the best candidate to pick is Venus, Ebony Princess #6." Venus Shundais Miller, of Hendersonville, NC, captured the audience and the crown of Miss OES with her introduction. Venus was crowned Miss Organization of Ebony Students on April 8, 1995 by Demetrius Chambers, Miss OES 493/'94. Chosen from a field of six contestants, Venus was selected on the basis of academics, community and campus involvement, talent, and poise. In her role as Miss OES, Venus will represent OES in the Homecoming Court Elections. She will also assist in planning Black History Month, and the '96 Miss OES Pageant. Venus is a sophomore psychology major. She is a member of the OES Executive Board, Western's BEST, the WCU Inspirational Choir, and serves as Vice- President of the Black Theatre Ensemble. Vote for Venus Miller Homecoming Court Representative for OES!!!
