tel tl LL A OL LOL LICL LEAL AL LOLOL LALO Accident Off Campus Report Officers investigated a minor accident involving a state vehicle. 1610 Accident Helder Lot Report Offices investigated a minor accident involving a state vehicle. 2215 NOL NC 107 Citation Officers charged a non-student with No Operators License. July 13 0855 Call Box Hunter Library Report Officers responded to a call box activation. No one was at the call box. 1552 Alarm Walker Hall Report Alarm was caused by construction activity. July 12 Court Disposition Jackson County: A non-student pled guilty to drug violations stemming from an October 2004 incident. He was placed on probation for one year, fined $75 and costs, and ordered to attend drug education sessions. 1608 Found Item Picnic Area Report A folding chair was found in the picnic area. It is at the police department. 1830 Lost Item Campus Report A wallet was reported lost. July 11 1520 Suspicious Person Centennial Dr. Report A suspicious person was asked to leave a store in the business district. The owner of the store banned the individual from the business in the presence of a University Officer who explained to the individual the consequences of reentering the business. Jackson County authorities were also advised of the situation. The individual is not a student. 1615 Warrant Campus Report Awarrant for a male student for harassing phone calls was sent to his county of residence for service. 2118 NOL/Failure to Stop Central Dr. Citation A student was issued a citation for no operators license and failure to stop for a red light. A person charged with driving under 21 after consuming pled guilty to reckless driving and was fined $50 and court costs. The incident occurred in October 2004. A person charged with driving while impaired in February pled guilty and was given one year unsupervised probation and fined $500. July 10 0055 Alcohol Overdose Off Campus Report Officers were requested to assist Jackson County officers at some off campus apartments where a female was passed out in a parking lot due to alcohol overdose. WESTCARE EMS transported her to Harris Regional Hospital. Later another female at the same location had to be transported to Harris Regional Hospital with alcohol overdose. The persons involved are not students at Western but are students at other North Carolina universities. 0416 Assist Pedestrian SR 1002 Report Officers transported an intoxicated (non-student) to his apartment. 2152 DWLR/AlIcohol Centennial Dr. Arrest Officers charged a non-student with driving while license revoked, possess open container in assenger area and a headlight violation. July 7 0700 Lost & Found Walker Hall Report Officers returned a wallet found by housekeeping to the Owner. Officers returned a second wallet to a student who lost a wallet at Killian. 0900 Welfare Check Albright Hall Report Officers located a student for a mother who had been unable to get in touch with him. The student called home. 1410 Alarm Leatherwood Report: Officers responded to an alarm caused by construction. 2000 License Check Point Report: Officers joined Jackson County Officers and Highway Patrol Troopers in a license checkpoint at the intersection of SR1002 and Central Dr. 2020 Drug Violation SR1002 Citation: A male student was cited for drug paraphernalia at a license checkpoint. 2035 NOL SR 1002 Citation: A driver who attempted to elude a license check point was cited for failure to carry a license while driving. 2145 DWLR Central Dr. Citation: A male student was cited for driving while license revoked, and displaying a fictitious plate. The charges resulted from a license check point. 2209 Drug Violation SR July 9 0930 Unsafe Speed Central Dr. Citation: A driver was issued a citation for exceeding a safe speed. 1230 Found CAT Card Helder/Scott Report Officers returned a CAT Card to the owner. 1458 Assist LEA Edgewater Rd. Report Officers were requested to assist Jackson County rescue personnel where a female was reported to have gone underwater in the Tuckaseigee River. Apparently the female was O.K. Those involved were students. 1833 Assist CVFD Monteith Gap Rd. Report Officers responded to assist the Cullowhee Fire Department at an apartment fire where grease had caught fire. The occupant, a student, received slight burns to her arms. A friend drove her to Harris Regional Hospital for treatment. July 8 0812 Drug Violation Campus Report Officers found several marijuana plants growing near the Baseball Field Lot. Following further investigation with Jackson County authorities, a suspect living nearby was charged with various drug violations. 1355 Seat Belt Violation Centennial Dr. Citation A driver was issued a citation for failure to use a seat belt. 1610 Alarm Village Report: Alarm due to work in the area. 1959 DWLR Central Dr. Arrest: Officers charged a driver with driving while license revoked.

The Western Carolinian is Western Carolina University's student-run newspaper. The paper was published as the Cullowhee Yodel from 1924 to 1931 before changing its name to The Western Carolinian in 1933.
