  • 20 Jennifer Gardner scored a career-high P8 points, including 18 second half points, hile Lori Tanner and Sigita Maleraite hipped in 13 points apiece to lead the ady Catamounts to a 92-81 win. The Lady Catamounts snapped a four hame losing streak and improved to 8-10 bverall and 4-7 in conference play, while eorgia Southern fell to 9-8 overall and 5-5 in conference play. The Lady Catamounts were able to get to the bonus very early in the second alf. Using the free throw advantage, they shot 21 of 26 from the free throw line and onnected on their final six attempts with he game winding down. The Georgia Southern women were able to cut the lead to three points on three occasions in the final 6:22 of the game, but each time e Lady Cats pulled away. Freshman ssika Johnson swatted a shot by llon Lee of Georgia Southern into the ands to keep the Catamounts ahead BO-75. After the block, Georgia Southern furned the ball over and freshman Ashley Pellom raced down the court and around the defense for a lay-up that pushed the Cats to an 82-75 lead and took away any momentum Georgia Southern had left. Senior Gardner was unstoppable with 28 points and a game-high 11 rebounds. Georgia Southern had no answer for her tremendous power and strength inside, allowing her to shoot 11 of 16 from the field. Gardner was also a perfect 6 for 6 at the line. Seniors Maleraite and Tanner each had 13 points, as Maleraite hit four three pointers and Tanner shot 8 for 8 from the charity stripe. Georgia outhern came back to tie the game at 8-18 using smothering defense and trong board work. Georgia Southern then went on a #7-0 run that gave them a 25-18 lead. _ Georgia Southern was able to penetrate he Catamount defense and then kick it back out for open shots. The Lady Cats clamped down on D, though, and went on their own 7-0 run behind Gardner and Maleraite.
