Find Out October 7 in Hoey Auditorium David Sedaris Returns in October by jessica jarrard I WCnewsmagazine 2.0 There isn't much in this life that David Sedaris has not done. From working as a house cleaner to an elf at Macy's Department Store in New York City to becoming an acclaimed writer whose work is aired on NPR, he has lived an interesting life. In 2001, he was named "Time" magazine's "humorist of the years" Sedaris is scheduled to appear. as part Of the 2003-04 Lectures, Concerts and Exhibitions (LCE) series at WCU on Tuesday, October 7 in Hoey Auditorium at 7:30 P.M. Previously, Sedaris graced the doors of WCU as an LCE lecturer in 1999, when he spoke in front of a full auditorium. (IKid9 -d anis},' This acclaimed author has books on the best-sellers list including "Barrel Fever," "Naked" and his most recent work, "Me Talk Pretty One Day." After working in New York City at Macy's during the Christmas holiday, Sedaris has plenty of true and interesting tales to tell about his experiences as an elf, Some of his most famous stories of Christmas blunders are included in "Santaland Diaries." His first public exposure actually came when parts of this collection were aired on NPR's "Morning Edition." Since then, Sedaris has become one of NPR's most famous commentators. Because this event is expected to sell out again, as it did back in 1999, it is important that students get their tickets in Beth Johnson of the University Center advices students to get tickets early since Sedaris has a large following from Asheville whö are sure to attend. '"The first time I heard him, I laughed so hard my stomach hurt the next day," said Johnson. Tickets are $15 for the general public, and $10 for senior citizens. This lecture is free to all WCU students. For more information on obtaining tickets, contact the UC or call 7206
