  • April 7,1999 Ge linian 'Roberts/Haggard Exchange' cont. from page 3 ARRINGTON IS PENDING. MS. MOORE DOES NOT HOLD THE CHAPTER RESPONSIBLE IN ANY WAY AND DID NOT WANT ANY MORE ATTENTION BROUGHT TO THE MATTER, WHICH IS WHY I WAS UPSET THAT HER NAME WAS PRINTED IN AN ANONYMOUS E-MAIL THAT WAS PRESENTED AS A LETTER TO THE EDITOR. Are you willing to go on record as to your feelings about violence on campus and your plan to rectify the problem? IT APPEARS THAT THIS INCIDENT WAS THE RESULT OF A MISUNDERSTANDING THAT LED TO AN ALLEGED ACT OF VIOLENCE ON THE PART OF A PERSON THAT HAD NO BUSINESS BEING ON CAMPUS FOR THAT REASON. IT IS HARD TO PREVENT THIS TYPE OF INCIDENT. ACTION AGAINST THE UNDERGRADUATE CHAPTER WOULD MAKE NO SENSE IN THIS CASE. THEY WERE ALSO OUTRAGED BY THE INCIDENT. THE ALLEGED PERPETRATOR HAS BEEN HANDLED APPROPRIATELY. THIS WAS A CASE OF AN ALUM ALLEGEDLY PROTECTING HER SORORITY'S SYMBOL FROM BEING USED BY A NON-MEMBER. WHERE SUCH AN ACT IS SOCIALLY UNACCEPTABLE WITHIN THE HISTORICALLY BLACK-GREEK COMMUNITY, FEW THINK THAT SUCH AN ACT IS A REASON FOR VIOLENCE. I ASSURE YOU THAT MUCH TIME HAS BEEN SPENT BY MS. DUNFORD AND I SPEAKING WITH THE UNDERGRADUATE CHAPTER MEMBERS ON THIS ISSUE. ALSO, MS. MOORE HAS BEEN AFFORDED ALL OF HER RIGHTS AND OPTIONS IN THE HANDLING OF THIS CASE. We're waiting on you ! Terry Roberts IF YOU HAVE ANY OTHER QUESTIONS, I WOULD BE GLAD TO RESPOND. BILL GREEK FORUM Theta Xi Easter Egg Hunt The Theta Xi fraternity, under the direction of president Joe Castain and vice-president Rick Jannetta, held an Easter egg hunt on Tuesday, March 30th for the special education classes at Cullowhee Valley Elementary. Twenty members of the fraternity brought candy and Easter eggs to hide, and gave prizes to the kids. The service project was funded by fraternity treasurer "Buzz" Erdesky.
