PRSSA, founded in 1968 by its parent organization, PRSA, is one of the few nationwide, student-managed pre-professional organizations. PRSSA membership gives students the opportunity to network with public relations professionals. The society encourages students to adhere to the highest ideals and principles of public relations practice. PRSSA membership will benefit all majors. Members will have access to an internship program and be eligible to attend national PRSSA conferences. Members also receive advice on resume writing and job searches and will receive informative newsletters about public relations issues. Once PRSSA members graduate from college, they automatically qualify for membership in PRSA at a reduced rate. PRSSA leadership consists of four executive officers, 12 district directors, a national newsletter editor and national conference coordinator. After the meeting ended at 9 p.m., Laverty and Bryant went on the air to do a call-in broadcast on WWCU FM. They discussed issues relevant to WCU students and received many positive responses from callers. WCU's PRSSA charter was announced October 30, at the National PRSSA convention in Seattle, Washington.
