  • 8 Features March 17, 1994 Western Carolinian kReview H Leaning toward Limbaugh |im Phillips StaffReporter The Eighties was not a decade of greed. Mankind is not destroying the ozone layer. Ronald Reagan did not raise the defidt What do all of these things have in common? Rush limbaugh, Doctor of Democracy. He's back in a political tour de force, pulling no punches agalnstliberal hype and lies. He is funny;his comments are sealing, but never off target Now most of you will say, "Waitaminute,he'saraci9t,biased,mJsogynistic, conservative." I'll admit he is conservative, but that's about as far as it goes. In his latest book See. I Told You Son limbaugh sets out to destroy the unfounded lies promulgated by the news media and Liberal Democrats. For example, we are told time and again that during the Sf/s the rich got richer and the poor got poorer. In this book Rush shines the light of truth on this. For example, we in fact see that families earning more than $50,000 went from less than 25% in 1980 to an impressive 31% in 1990. In addition, the number of families earning less than $15,000 dropped. The Black middle class grew by at least 1.5 million, and the total number of people under the poverty line decreased significantly. The poor did not get poorer. But one would never know it by what is reported day after day on the news and in the Congress. Rush declares an all out war on the divisiveness of multiculturalism, which is only a euphemism for mind control. He exposes the truth about rabid feminism, pseudo-scientific environmentalism and crime and points out the places where today's education system is failing America. Many find his sense of humor incomprehensible. What most of these people don't understand is that comedy and cogent political commentary can be combined with devastating results. What Limbaugh is speaking out against in NOT women's rights, as some would have you believe, sensible environmental conservation, responsible sex education or humane treatment of animals. In his book, Rush happily demonstrates absurdity by being absurd—in these cases, the notion espoused by many anti-men feminists that white Christian men are the demise of the entire world, the assumption that the earth is fragile and that teaching abstinence destroys self-esteem. In gee, I Told You So, Rush writes with a deep respect for the United States and the ability of individuals to overcome almost any obstade in life and says the last thing people need is government doing it for them. He reverently holds this planet^ in all its facets, as intrinsically beauti ful and states in his book, I assure many hardcore environmentalists would tell you otherwise, that man has a proper place on it and is not a separate entity apart from nature. I highly recommend See, X Told You So. Just remember no radical sodalist/ Liberal is safe from his rightful attack on poverty, pimps, tax-and-spenders and I multicultural mind doctors. If you've never seen Rush in action then heed my \caveat--this book might change the way you view politics forever. ~JJ William Barnes' "Night Flowers and Leaves" Is one of many works presented in the show, "RECENT WORKS: PAINTING AND MONOTYPES" by Mr. Barnes.
