Feb. II, at 8 p.m. in the recital hall of the Music-English Building. Ihe concert will feature works by Jean-Phillipe RameatL, .IS. Bach, Domenico Scarlatti and Antonio Vivaldi. Smith, who plays a nine-foot concert harpsichord built by Flic Hery of Boston, teaches harpsichord at Trinity College in Hartford, Conn., where he also holds the position of composer-in-residence. He is a graduate of the Preparatory Division of the Juilliard School of Music, New York, and holds his degree from the Mamies College of Music. New York, where he studied with Sylvia Marlowe under scholarship from the Harpsichord Music Society. Smith made musical history by becoming the first performer ever to. present the complete harpsichord literature of I rancois Couperin in public performance, a project which took eight New York recitals over four concert seasons and which was greeted with enthusiastic- critical acclaim. Smith performs regularly throughout the United States and has performed in several European countries and in Australia. He is a published composer under contract to publishing houses in New York and Chicago.
