UNC-Charlotte started off hot, scoring the game's only two tri's before the half-time horn sounded. UNC-C missed one of their extra points. In the second half, however the game took a Catamount turn. "We kept the ball on their side of the field during the second half," said team captain Ron Venturella. Although this loss prevented the Cats from capturing the number one slot in their division, their hopes still remain high. "This just psyches us up for this weekend," says Venturella. "Now we're real hungry for victory." The Catamounts will travel to Wake Forest in a contest sure to pack a purple punch. "IfwehavetoTnisshomecoming" said Venturella, "we sure are going to make the most of it." The rugby team will play its last home game against the Citadel on Saturday, October 2. The game will be held on the field behind the running track. Cats get stomped in Volleyball Curtis Metzger Staff Reporter Jennifer Ross and Catherine Sawyers each had 13 kills in a match against Converse University Tuesday night, but it was not enough for the WCU victory. After beatingConverseat home once this season the Catamounts traveled to Converse and lost all three games, 15-3,15-10,16-14. "We were on their home floor and that sure was a factor for them. They also had a little more experience," Coach Trish Howell. Junior Emily Tillotson is still out of action with an injured achilles tendon, leaving a freshmen to fill the spot. "The freshmen played well," said Howell, "They were solid for us. They're getting better and learning more about the game as we go along." Although Ross and Sawyers had 26 kills combined for the match, they also tallied 21 errors together. WCU's team attack percentage is currently on a downward escalator to the Conference cellar.
