  • Arts & Entertainment The Western Carolinian 5 Thursday, September 10,1987 LMP Up-date By: Martha McAfee Program LMP Producer Last Minute Productions has many exciting events planned for this year and we'd like everyone to be apart of it. Most students do not realize that they can be a part of the planning process for campus events. But they can through LMP's producer program. Producers help in: choosing events, running shows and managing the budgets. The producers meet twice a month and receive notices from LMP informing them of future events. The work is not over-demanding. Producers work events for their individual committees and only three events for other committees. Assisting at major concerts and Casino Nights are required, but they count as part of those three extra events. Producers' work performance is evaluated each month, and the producer with the highest evaluation is named the "Producer of the Month". To find out more about producers, all you have to do is come to the producer orientation meeting on September 10, at 7:00 p.m., in the Cherokee Room. There you can apply to be a producer and meet all of the LMP staff. Southeastern Intercollegiate Canoe Races LMP is once again sponsoring the Southeastern Intercollegiate Canoe Races. The WCU team has always done well in the race, and LMP hopes to see the tradition continued this semester. The race is designed for canoer's of all skill levels, especially the beginner. The race will be held on the Catawba River in Morganton, N.C, on Saturday, October 3rd. There will be two types of races. The "Slalom" and the "Down- River". Each person is allowed to enter two slalom and two down-river events, either solo or tandem. For Art-i-Facts those interested, practices are held every week-1 day afternoon. Everyone is welcome and no experience is necessary. Christmas Break Trip Looking for something to do over the Christmas Break? Well, LMP is inviting you to come join them for a week of skiing in Brecken- ridge, Colorado. Breckenridge is one of the largest ski resorts in Colorado. It offers many excellent slopes for the beginner and the advance skier. In addition to Breckenridge's four ski areas, it offers snowmobiling, ice skating, theaters, and many restaurants. The ski group will be driven to Breckenridge and will leave on December 31. There will be an overnight stay in Denver, and then on to the slopes. The group will return to campus on January 10th. The price for the trip is $300 for students and $350 for all others. The price includes: transportation, lodging in Denver and in Breckinridge, and three meals a day in Breckenridge. For more information or to sign up for the trip, go by the University Center. The most demanding, challenging, enlightening, rigorous, satisfying, difficult, rewarding, motivating and exciting course youcantake in college.
