The Western Carolinian 7 Wednesday, April 22, 1987 LMP Survey LMP's Outdoor Committee sponsors trips to many of the finest areas the southeast has to offer. Past trips have included white water rafting on the Chattooga River, back packing in the Smokies, rock climbing, kayaking, caving, and even skiing in Colorado. In planning these trips, the Outdoor Committee tries to plan activities that interest you, so this year we ask for your help in the planning process. How much would you be willing to pay for overnight trips $5 $10 $15 $20 Carowinds announces concerts Howard Jones to kick-off 1987 Paladium season CHARLOTTE - British pop/rock artist Howard Jones will open what promises to be an exciting concert season at the Carowinds Paladium on Saturday, MAy 30. Best known for his upbeat hits like "Things Can Only Get Better" and "No One Is To Blame," Jones has captured the hearts and charts of the music industry. Howard Jones will headline the concert season in grand-style as he performs songs from his numerous gold and platinum albums on May 30 at 8 p.m. Officials at the 77-acre theme park have announced that seven other concerts have been booked to date for the 8,200-seat Paladium amphitheatre and that they expect to confirm additional acts soon. According to Garry Bickett, Marketing Director for Carowinds, the following acts have been scheduled to appear in concert at Carowinds this summer: Concert Details Howard Jones Saturday, May 30 8 p.m. $4 Jimmy Buffet Saturday, June 13 8 p.m. $5 \ Jimmy Buffet Sunday, June 14 7 p.m. $5 Moody Blues Saturday, June 20 8 p.m. $4 Freddie Jackson with Sunday, June 28 7 p.m. $5 special guests Ray, Goodman & Brown and Najee PattiLabelle Saturday, Augustl 3 & 8 p.m. $5 The Judds Sunday, August 9 7 p.m. $4 Miami Sound Machine Saturday, August 15 8 p.m. $4 All concert seats are reserved and sold on a first-come, first- served basis. Advance tickets for all of the concerts listed above will be on sale beginning on Saturday, April 25 at Ticketron outlets in North and South Carolina or by calling Teletron at 1-800-2334050. A limited number of tickets will also be sold at Carowinds on the day of the show. Concert tickets must be purchased in addition to Carowinds theme park admission for admission into the Paladium. General park admission is $14.50 for anyone seven and older and $7.25 for children four to six and senior citizens (age 60 odd) while children three and younger are admitted free. Carowinds is located just off Interstate 77 (exit 90) approximately 10 miles south of Charlotte, N.C. and 12 miles north of Rock Hill, S.C. On Saturday, May 30 at 8 p.m., British pop/rock artist Howard Jones (pictured above) will kick- off the 1987 concert season at the Carowinds Paladium.
