The Western Carolinian 5 Thursday, February 12, 1987 My Valentine Gift to You What love filled words can I employ to tell you of the unspeakable joy with which you fill my every waking thought I have searched for words but in vain, alas, I've sought What words can I use to say thank you I have some in mind but also they just won't do I think I'll ask Shakespeare of the Great Poet Gibran Perhaps they can speak my thoughts much better than I can I started this piece of poetry and pldnned to make it rather long Just to show (at length) that my love for you is really rather strong But me thinks words are begining to evade and elude me Whenever you are naming romantic poets please, just exclude me The words, Give Up, nevertheless dre not in my book I beg your pardon os I into my heart, once again shall look Perhaps I shall find something more to add Something spicy, something mushy, something extremely glad Something endearing, something bold, something utterly good Something nice, something sentimental or perhaps I should Say something that would make you burst into a blush Oh for the words thdt would make you do something such I have looked and searched and prayed for inspiration But all I have gotten is this rather strange sensation To use some words immortal from men old wise and true Thdt the best way to say my thanks, to express my love Is with the words "I love you" Paul Andrew Dawkins (4.2.80) To Sue, Meeting you was the Important thing that's happened to me. The Western Carolinian is Western Carolina University's student-run newspaper. The paper was published as the Cullowhee Yodel from 1924 to 1931 before changing its name to The Western Carolinian in 1933.
