SGA Offering Diverse Sevices Heather Frey Staff Writer Ask not what you can do for SGA, but ask what SGA can do for you. They offer a variety of services. One service is the student court system which includes the Traffic Court, Supreme Court, Superior Court, and a Faculty Student Judiciary Agreements Board. The I raffic Court handles traffic tickets while the Supreme Court handles misconduct eases. The Superior Court decides on the senate and Constitutional issues of clubs and organizations. Each is appealed to the one above with the Faculty, Student board being the highest court of appeals. Another sen ice dealing with legality is the Legal Systems Service. The director will help students get in touch with a lawyer concerning any legal problems they may have such as DWl. The SGA is also in the process of publishing a tenant/ landlord handbook which informs renters of their rights, privileges, and laws pertaining to them. The senate offers commuter and resident hall students a chance to express their problems or ideas and hopefully get them solved or implemented. Students with ideas or problems should find out who their senator is through SGA then ask him or her to write a resolution and go through the proper channel to get something done. SCiA has a Director of Public Information who informs the campus radio station and newspaper of an Student Government news. He will also help students get their news published. Refrigerators are another item the SGA has well in hand. They rent them for $35 a year and $17.50 a semester plus a $10 refundable deposit. A greatly needed project at WCU is the return of the Stray Cats. Robert Colgan is the new director. With the support of SGA and desperately needed volunteers the Cats can reorganize and start prowling again this semester and keep prowling from now on. The SGA is mainly on campus to bring new ideas, talk to students and hear their grievances, and work with the administration as student representatives. See SGA, Page 8 KAYPROII.
