...from page 17 collegian finished second with a 26:14 time in the five-mile course. Teammate Tom Mahon placed fourth with a 26:35 showing as the Cats gave the Thundering Herd, the second best team in the conference in 1979, a good challenge. Marshall's Kim Nutter won the race with a course record 25:52 time as the top four finishers each broke the old standard of 26:36 set by Western's Sam Shirley last season. Head Coach Dan Kenney was pleased with Saturday's meet with Marshall, except that his runners didn't win, and is optimistic about the challenge at The Citadel. "The Citadel has an outstanding group of freshmen in their cross country program this season, and so I look for a good race. I think we are in real good shape to run the Citadel...I know our kids will give their best effort. Western has good people and good people produce good things," says Kenney. The Citadel lost to Western 42-19 last season as they finished 3-4 in dual meets. The meet is scheduled for 9:00 a.m. on the Bulldog campus in Charleston, SC. ...from page I.V Through strong commitment unwaivering perserver- ance, and great belief in each other, they were able to realize their dream--a beautiful new home at River- bend. Theta Xi's prosperity during the critical two-year period without a house is attributed to hardwork, outstanding leadership, and the true brotherhood that bonds all the Theta Xi's. The brothers would like to thank all the Greeks on campus for their support and friendship during Theta Xi's time without a home. .irom page 5. Even though this translates to oniy 175 dollars per term it is still a substantial amount for citizens of a country like the Central African Republic. O'Toole said that it is one of the poorest countries in Africa. Eighty-five percent of the work force is engaged in subsistence agriculture. The country's most valuable resource, the diamond mines to the north, is controlled by Diamond Distributers Inc., a New York concern. O'Toole, who has been to Africa six times before this trip, said that he experienced his most severe case of culture shock in the Central African Republic. The grinding poverty and racial segregation "as bad as in South Africa," were major contributors to this. But there were other incongruities. O'Toole said that the Central African mind was "very difficult" to understand and that the culture that sprang from the workings of this mins was "the most alien" he had ever encountered. He was careful to note that he was speaking in terms of comparison with his own culture, that of the United States. 4lut OF Cullowhee Now Introducing Free Delivery Service (3 Mile Radius) Delivering Pizza-Sandwiches-Pasta-Salads $$$ "5" Ways to Save $$$ 1-Slice Pizza - Pasta & Salad $1.79 2-Slices Pizza - Pasta & Salad $2.19 3-Slices Pizza - Pasta & Salad $2.59 All You Can Eat - Pasta & Salad $2.89 All The Salad You Can Eat $1.39 Regular Hours Sun.-Thurs. - 11:00a.m.-12:00 p.m. Fri. & Sat. -11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. Delivery Hours Sun. - Thurs. - 5:30-11:00 p.m. Fri. & Sat. - 6:00 p.m.-12:00 p.m. LAST MINUTE PRODUCTIONS PRESENTS FRIDAY SEPT. 12 8:00 P.M.
