Financial Aid Recipiants If you are receiving financial assistance [grants, loans, ect.| please go to the Cherokee Room In the University Center between 9 and 4 on either Thursday, August 28 or Friday, August 29. You must sign your voucher in order to receive credit for your financial assistance. Tough Rules for Food Stamps New regulations are going to make it more difficult for students to receive food stamps. Effective September 1, 1980, students enrolled at least half-time in an institution of higher learning will not be eligible to receive food stamps unless they meet one of the following criteria; ...Be employed 20 hours a week: ...Participate in a Federally financed work study program: ...Be the head of a household or spouse containing at least one other dependent: or, ...Be enrolled in school through a Work Incentive Program. If you fall into one of the above categories, you may want to apply at your local Department of Social Services. Students not meeting the criteria will, under federal law, be ineligible.
