Cats host Erskine The WCU soccer team, with its hopes of a Southern Conference title dashed last weekend, now turns its attention to a winning season. The Catamount booters will host another of the South's top teams, Erskine College, this afternoon at 3 p.m. in Whitmire Stadium. Erskine is coached by former WCU soccer player Ralph Lundy who guided the Flying Fleet to the NAIA National Championship tournament last fall. Western fell to unbeaten Appalachian State last Sunday, 7-2, as the Mountaineer's Thompson Usiyian scored five goals. The loss left WCU with a 2-2-1 record in the Southern Conference, good enough for third place, and 4-5-1 overall. After Thursday's hame with Erskine, Western will have two home soccer games left on its schedule—October 29 with UNC-Greensboro and the season finale November 10 with South Carolina.
