Cumberland College won the meet with 97 points, followed in order in the team scoring by: Appalachian State with 94, Frostburg State with 85, J.C. The Cat golfers are 1-1 in dual competition and finished eighth last week in the Edisto Golf Classic in Orangeburg, SC. out of a field of eight teams. WCU was to compete in a multi-team match at Gaffney. S.C. on Tuesday before breaking for the Easter Holidays. The Western Carolina women's tennis team scored two wins and a loss in its last three outings and is headed for its best season ever, it appears. WCU's women defeated Brevard and Lenoir-Rhyne and lost to Appalachian State in its most recent action. The Lady Cat netters host three home matches this APRIL 13, 1978/THE WESTERN CAROLINIAN/PAGE 13 week, entertaining East Tennessee State on Tuesday, Davidson on Thursday and Peace College on Friday. Western's men's tennis team downed UNjC-Ashe- v ille 6-3 and Warren Wilson 9-0 last week, but |ost a 9-0 decision at Furman. The Cats are now 4-7 overall and 2-2 in the Southern Conference. WCU will be at Warren Wilson on Wednesday, at Davidson on Friday, at UNC-Charlotte on Saturday and at East Tennesse State on Saturday. Western's men's golf team finished third in a four-way match in Lexington, Va.. Mondav to push us record to 6-3 overall and l-l in the Southern Conference. WCU scored 308 in the match to better Appalachian State bv eight shots. James Madison University won the even with a 300 score and host VMI was second with 301. WCU will meet Presbyterian and UNC-Asheville Friday at the Maggie Valley Country Club.
