  • THE WESTERN CAROLINIAN TUESDAY, MARCH 1, 1977 World in review Educational malpractice hit by RUDY MINTREE IN year old Edward Donohue of Copiaque, N.Y. is suing ihe Copiaque Union Free Schools for $5 million on the grounds that they committed "educational malpractice." Donohue is a 1976 graduate of Copiaque High School, and cannot read. The suit charges the school system with failing to educate Donohue properly and leaving him "unable to cope properly with the affairs of the world." It is believed that S5 million would substantially reduce Donohue's inability to cope. Insurance investigators say that fraudulent claims by Middle Eastern students against U.S. insurance companies have amounted to over $5 million. The California Highway Patrol has uncovered a ring of foreign students who have been ripping off insurance companies through fake claims of auto thefts and accidents, phony arson and burglary i payments for fake injuries in claims, and disabili rigged accidents. Sources say that the gains from the claims are bveing channeled to the Palestine Liberation Organization and other Arab nationalist groups in the Middle East. It is believed that the students are striving to balance payments made by the CIA over the last twenty years to King Hussein of Jordan. The regents of the University of Michigan have announced that the university will build a new library on campus to be called the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Library. The library will be built with private funds and its operation will be financed by federal funds. New Now Open!
