The Veteran Association is not connected with any government agency. The purpose of the association is togatherthe vets attending WCU and to try to help, meet their different needs here. In activities this year, the vets are planning with the Panhellenic Association on visiting the rest home in Webster over Thanksgiving, and visiting the VA Hospital in Oteenduring the Christmas holidays. There will be an important Veterans Association meeting for all members and prospective members today at 4p.m. in Scott 108. During the meeting the possibility of obtaining a large room in Moore dorm for a study room will be discussed. Veterans, did you know that there is a tutorial service on campus to help ease the learning pains brought on by those difficult courses'.' The V.A. will provide up to $60.00 per month for assistance, if you need the services of a special tutor. This will not reduce your basic allowance in any way. For assistance, contact the Veteran's Educational Counseling Service located at 106 Scott Dormitory. The party will be November 5 at 7:30p.m. at Dr. Bell's house. You should be registered by November 4. There will be an important meeting of Kappa Delta Pi, Wednesday, Oct. 29, at 6p.m. in Killian 111. Discussed will be fall Initiation, membership requirements and upcoming projects. Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity will present the annual fall quarter amateur boxing matches November 18 and 20, with trophies being awarded to winners of weight classes and one trophy awarded to the outstanding fighter. On Wednesday evening at 8:00, Dr. Marvin Soroos of the Department of Politics at North Carolina State University at Raleigh will speak in Forsyth Auditorium. His lecture, which will be followed by a question and answer session, is entitled "Alternatives for Survival: The Life-Boat Ethic vs. World Peace". Dr. Soroos' primary- areas of interest are peace studies and future studies, particularly the problems of planning alternative world futures. Those who attended Professor Melvin Kranzberg's lecture, "Are We Running Out of Time'.1", should be particularly interested, because Dr. Soroos will pursue some of the same questions from a different perspective.
