Dr. Perry Kelly, head of the art department at WCU, is chairman of the conference, the theme of which is "Western North Carolina and Its Crafts." Members who attend will have the choice Saturday of participating in two of five sessions on crafts topics, tours of the WCU art faculty, visits to an exhibit of weaving, visits to an exhibit of WNC craft items which form the basis of the WCU Appalachia Museum and tours to the Cherokee Reservation and Craft Centers or the Cashiers and Highlands via a waterfall route. Saturday evening, guests are invited to a barbecue dinner and a square dance, being held in connection with WCU's first Founders Day.
