But when he attempts to get into the running two years in a row he might be trying to s*y something. John Conrad is the person referred to. Last year he entered the competition for the first time. He felt it would be amusing, had a lot of support from his friends and just might of had a good chance to win. But John was a student senator last year. His fellow SGA members applied a little pressure. They suggested how it might be bad for SGA's image for one of their own to make a farce of such a "sacred" institution. . John went to see Dean Davis and asked his opinion. Dean Davis though having a male run for homecoming queen was "ridiculous" but told John it was up to him. John withdrew his name to "avoid losing any influence" he might have had with SGA. This year, without the image of SGA at stake, John decided to run again. He started talking to people again. He felt he had a good chance of winning. He followed all the rules. He submitted a nomination petition to SGA with 25 names on it. He even secured an escort and a driver for the parade. The homecoming committee, by vote, removed his name from the list of nominees. He was informed that "a male candidate for homecoming queen was not in keeping with the PRIMARY ATTEMPT of the committee in holdingan election for homecoming."
