  • 4 THE WESTERN CAROLINIAN Tuesday, April 6,1971 Carolinian News Briefs Bomb threat The second bomb threat of the quarter was called in to Leather wood residence hall last Thursday at 2:00 a.m. Reportedly, a coarse male voice phoned into the residence hall stating "There's a bomb going off at 2 and everybody better get out of there." The hall was evacuated and the students waited outside for approximately 35 minutes while the residence hall was searched. No bomb was found. According to state law, making a false report concerning a destructive device is a misdemeanor, punishable with a $1,000 fine, 2-3 years in prison or both. One WCU administrator has stated that if toe person (or persons) making the bomb threats is apprehended he or she will be prosecuted. Dean of women WCU still has not found a dean of women. Miss Peggy Barr, who visited the campus last February and was recommended for toe position by the Dean of Women Selection Advisory Committee, turned the offer down. The matter of a dean of women will go back to the committee, according to Herb Reinhard, Vice-President for Student Development He has forwarded several recent applications for the position to toe committee. "We're going to fill this position," Reinhard said. "We dont want to start another Aca- demic year without a dean of women." "My concerns are personal," Miss Barr said in a letter to Rehnhard, "and in no way reflect on you, your staff or the institution. It is important for me to locate near a larger metropolitan area..." Filing dates Filing dates for President and Vice-President of the Student Government Association will be April 5, 6, and 7 in the office of the Vice-President of the SGA, 2nd floor A. K. Hinds University Center. Candidates must be rising juniors or seniors, have an overall q.p.r. of at least 2.00, and have been a student at Western Carolina for two quarters Immediately prior to Spring Quarter 1971. The deadline for filing is 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 7. All candidates must file in writing. Barry Auman, junior music major from Winston-Salem, wiU be heard in recital Wednesday evening, 8:15 p.m. in Hoey Auditorium. Auman, baritone, has played lead roles in CAMELOT and MY FAIR LADY. Both productions were presented at the Farmhouse in Blowing Rock where Auman has been employed as a singing waiter for the last two summers. Most recently, Auman played the role of Paul in the musical CARNIVAL, presented by the Department of Music and the Department of Speech and Theatre Arts. He will be assisted in the recital by the following students: Diana Fisher, Betty Lou Stroud, Amy Hicks, Rita1 Riffle, Stan DeJarnett, Mike Jones, Jim Chitwood and Dan Spaugh.
