Some of the services provided by the Tech Commons are equipment checkout, access to free software, hardware and software repairs, 3D print- ing, a wide array of col- laborative spaces, digital media studios, printing, computer lab access and computer purchasing as- sistance. With the new upgraded printers across campus printing has also become easier to access. There are many posters around campus demonstrating how easy the process for printing now is. Visit we- print.wcu.edu and follow the four steps below. The new printing service has taken the somewhat com- plicated and buggy Paw- Print and simplified and streamlined the process to make it quicker and easier for students to take advan- tage of the system offered by the university. Not only does the Tech Commons offer services like 3D printing and easy printing accessibility, they also offer computer repairs. Software repairs are free to students with a max 3 day turn around. Hardware repairs on products such as Apple and Dell under warranty are also free. They do charge a diagnostic fee of $25 but that fee is waived if students move forward with the repair. Hard drive and hard drive cable repairs are $25 plus parts and other repairs are $55 an hour plus parts making it way cheaper than the outside alternative. The Tech Commons also offers equipment checkout on equipment such as Apple MacBook pro laptop, Dell XPS P54G windows 10 lap- top, 3D printer cleaning cameras, Go Pros, cam- eras, tripods, conference callers, projectors, voice recorders, webcams and other accessories for one week. What is interesting about the 3D printers, scanners and design sta- tions at Western Carolina in the Tech Commons A 8D printer available for use across campus at different locations as it showcased past 3D projects and new innovative technologies.
