The idea of placing a marker to honor :: L. Madison and the oiiginal board of trustees wa? conceived jointly by President H T. Hunter ar.d Dean W. E. Bird. It wa- to be placed on the exact site of the building in which Western Carolina Teachers College war founded. Xeal has been in charge of the Art Department of the College for the past six years. During these years a great part of the development of the college has taken place. Miss Neal has taken a position in the front ranks of those responsible for this development. The results of her teachings are observable in hundreds of homes and schools scattered throughout the state. A splendid student and teacher of Art, Mia I Xeal is devoted to a search for beauty in the people and things around her; if we judge the success of this by her manners, her personality, and her many friends, we are sure to draw a favorable concluson. Though regretful of her leaving, Mis; Xeal's friends are happy in her good fortune. She has accepted a position at the Eastern Texas Teachers College, one of the larger institutions of the south devoted to the training of teachers.
