This year's fashion show, To Give Lecture Last Friday. 47.000 tickets at $20 a shot, went on sale for Pink Floyd's May 4 concert appearance In Carter-Flnley Stadium at N.C. State. As of noon of Tuesday, only 7,000 tickets remained for procrastinating fans to purchase. The Raleigh concert is one of several U.S. tour dates for the group's promotion of their latest album Momentary Lapse In Reason. Pink Floyd recently returned from sold out engagements In Asia and Australia and ' last October performed before sold out audiences In Chapel Hill. Momentary Lapse in Reason is the band's first release since 1982, and their album The Dark " Side of the Moon has been on the record charts for a record-break ing 719 weeks. Pink Floyd Is the undisputed master of quadrophonic sound, In conjunction with modern methods of technology, lighting, and special effects. The upcoming concert promises to be spectacular and will feature material from the new album as well as from The Dark Side of the Moon. The Wall and Wish You Were Here. Stage equipment to be used In the upcoming concert Is being transported by 23 elght- een-wheelers and will require four days and 8,000 person-hours of work to setup and take down. Burckhardt's presentation Is free and open to the public. It is part of the WCU aart department's spring visiting artist and lecture series. Burckhardt was bom In Basel, Switzerland, and came to the United States In 1935. He worked and collaborated in New York with poet Edwin Denby. photographer Walker Evans and painter William DeKooning. Last year, he had a retrospective of 63 of his fims at the Museum of Modern Art. His photographs have been on view at Marlborough Gallery and Brooke Alexander Gallery. His paintings have been exhibited at Tenager, Green Mountain and Blue Mountain Galleries. Ramsey Regional Activity Center's Hospitality Room. The show will consist of six fashion scenes opening with "Nautical Nostalgia" followed by "Splish Splash* (swim wear), "Body Conscious" (active wear), "Port of Call" (casual wear), "Masquerade Ball" (evening wear), and "Captain's Quarters" (lingerie). The fashions in the show will be provided by local merchants and will be modeled by WCU students. Mistress of Ceremonies will be President of FMA, Leslie Carter. Door prizes will be awarded. Play To Open April 13 The cast for the upcoming production of Foxfire at WCU has been announced by WCU's department of speech and theatre arts. Foxfire will be presented In Niggll Theatre April 13-17 and 20-23. Heather Pltlllo of Cullowhee will play the the role of Annie Nations, with Sean Parker of Mooresville as Hector Nations and Brltt Corry of Greensboro as Dillard Nations. Gregg Hones of High Point will play Prince Carpenter, Mary Queen of Cullowhee will play Holly Burrell. and Mark Warwick of Lumberton will play the doctor. Set In Rabun County. Georgia, Foxfire concerns the Nations family who has lived in the Appalachian mountains for generations and the pressures the modern business world puts on the family to sell their land for development property. Verteran actor Hume Cronym co-wrote the play with his wife, Jessica Tandy. Steve Ayers Is directing the play. Philip Auton Is the assistant director and Connie Silver will be the stage manager. Richard Beam will design both the set and lights. Tom Bollck is costume designer and Kathy Sltton Is sound designer. Joanna Harlng and Melissa Marais will manage properties. " Foxfire Is a delightful and touching play that will probably sell out quickly," Ayers said. "I recommend that reservations be made early." Clnjades on Market Street will have their Comedy Zone with live comedy on Thursday night starting at 8:00. Gatsby's, located on Lexington Park, will have guitarist and vocalist Pete Neff. He will perform on Friday and Saturday night, and his show will begin at 8 p.m. 45 Cherry will have a reggae band on Saturday night. The Awareness Art Ensemble will have two shows, one at 8 p.m. and another at 10 p.m. There will be an $8 cover charge. On Saturday night. The Blues Club will play. They will have the same playing schedule, and the cover charge will stay the same. McDibb's will see the return of the Anne Lalley Band. The Jazz/ rock group will begin their show at 8 p.m., and there will be a $5 cover. On Saturday, the groups Tuln and Celtics will perform. Again, the schedule and cover will be the same. The Second Stage Readers Theatre will perform the play "Amazing Grace" on Saturday at 8 p.m. The play will be given at the Ashevilie Community Theatre, and tickets cost $3. Audition Date Set For "Horn In The West" Horn In The West, the historical outdoor drama In Boone, NC, will be holding auditions on March 26th at Chapel Wilson Hall on the Appalachian State Univerity campus. Registration will begin at 9:00 a.m. "We're looking for numerous men and women dancers, singers, actors and technicians," says Ed Pilklngton, Artistic Director of the production. "This season, there are several roles available," he added. Prospective actors should prepare a 2 minute or less monologue for the auditions. Singers need to bring two songs of contrasting styles. Dancers should bring approprate clothing. Members of the artistic staff will be available to interview those interested in working with the technical staff. Horn In The West, the third oldest outdoor drama In the nation, will begin its' 37 consecutive season In June. "Over 1280,000 people have seen the drama since It began in 1952," according to William R. Winkler, III, Executive Producer. Horn In The West Is produced by the Southern Appalachian Historical Association, a non-profit organization.
