My Dear Dr. Ambler: After some delay owing to uncertainties in our plans for the proposed trip of Sec. Wilson and party, I have wired you today that we would arrive in Asheville Wednesday afternoon and leave there Thursday morning for a trip down the Murphy railroad. During the Secretary's short stay in Asheville I think the suggestion which has come from you and Mr. Powell might be carried out somewhat as follows: A short drivo over a portion of the Biltmore estate starting fro.' the Biltmore station on the arrival of our train which will probably be about four o'clock, Wednesday afternoon, inasmuch as we expect to come by a special car and engine over trie Blue Ridge and down to Asheville in order to permit our examining with more care the storm damages along the line of the Southern Railv/ay. Immediately on our return from this Biltmore drive, we might take a trolley car trip to the top of Sunset Mountain, Wednesday night a reception to Sec. Wilson and his party might be given at the Battery Park Hotel by the Appalachian Park Association. This reception might be either formal or informal; for some reasons it might .be better to invite the public generally. If it can be conveniently arranged, opportunity might be given the Secretary and perhaps a few others for making brief speeches .though I do not regard the speech making feature as important unless it can be arranged conveniently and agreeably to all.
