  • "Have you ever built a camp-fire At the closing of the day? Have you sat and watched The embers glowing red? With your scanty supper finished And the things all cleared aivay. "Have you ever spread a blanket Doii'n beneath the star-strewn skies? Rolled yourself within its Cozy folds to sleep, At the base of mighty mountains, With their peaks that rise and rise? 1 hen go—■ It's a road that's hard to travel—but it pays." —Harry M. Dean Sunday morning we will leave the cabin and follow the well-beaten trail over the low ridge to Abrams Creek, cross Laurel branch which flows into Abrams Creek at this point and follow the trail along the northwest bank of the creek. Occasionally the trail leaves the creek and crosses some of the beautiful ridges—only to return to the creek on the other side. From the crests of these ridges we will get excellent views. Finally, we descend a steep bluff and here we are at the base of the picturesque falls. And what an appropriate place for lunch, beside that deep and inviting pool which has been carved out oy the endless attack of the falling water. Those who are aquatically inclined should bring bathing suits. Leave Saunders System at 4 P. M. Take canteen and food for 3 meals (or make advance reservations for meals at Oliver's). Round trip hiking distance 6 miles. Trail smooth and easy. Cost: transportation, about $2.00 each; lodging and Parking about $1.00 each. Leaders: J. P. Porter U'hone 2—4656) and Jack Bryan (Phone 3—3131). 47
