Memories of Africa Free to roam in the motherland, Freedom, so sweet and real. Now taken captive, by another man, The Blackman has strength, pride and zeal. The source of a new, growing nation, No rights, no liberty, nothing to claim. Again to rise, by his black determination, Guaranteed to live again, by his African name. When will, the revolution arrive, For the hopes and dreams to live. It might never come, till the spirit is revived, A change will come but all he must give. The memories of mighty Africa, Where his heritage began. Memories of sweet Africa, Remember where life began. Michael A. This 1977, 44-page book of poems titled Neo-Blackness is an Organization of Ebony Students publication. Named in 1973, the Organization of Ebony Students was originally the Black Students United for Liberation which was founded in 1968 to promote unity among African American students. The organization is now called the Black Student Union and continues to promote the interests of WCU’s African American student body through cultural and educational activities and is open to all cultures.
