Wike, Class of 1894, which was the second graduating class from this institution, is now teaching at G1 e n ville, Jackson County Professor Wike has been closely identified with the educational and economic progress of Jackson County for many years. He is a farmer, teacher, merchant, and leader in county affairs, having represented the county once in the General Assembly of North Carolina. He is a good roads booster. Mr. Wike was teacher in the Normal Department of this institution for six years. Mr. J. U. Gibbs, Class of 1896, is teaching at Wilmot, Jackson County. Professor Gibbs has been closely identified with educational and social progress in Swain County, having held various positions as teacher in that county, having served as County Superintendent, and several terms as a member of the State Legislature. He has been back to attend summer sessions here since graduation and is always a welcome addition to our school and community. Jackson County feels she, as well as Swain, has a sort of claim on Professor Gibbs. Mr. W. L. Henson, Class of 1898, is now serving his second term as Clerk of Court for Jackson County. He served several terms as County Superintendent. Mr. Henson was a teacher in the Cullowhee Normal & Industrial School for a period of eight years. In addition to his duties as Clerk of Superior Court, Mr. Henson is also now in business, selling dry goods, near Sylva. His health has not been good for more than a year, but we are glad to note a very great improvement at present, and trust that he will soon entirely recover from his recent illneu.
