  • 'J^trxiieh J§>i<xie& J^enaie*, WASHINGTON, D. C, January 20th, 1900. Dr. G. P. Ambler, Asheville, II. G. Dear Doctor: Your letter received. The changes which you suggest in the joint resolution which 1 introduced, a copy of which was published in the Asheville Gazette, or any other changes that you may desire to be made, can be made in Committee before it is reported to the Senate. 1 thoQght at one time that we would wait to get suggestions from everybody before introducing this resolution; but, after conferring with Senator Pritchard, we thought it was best to go ahead and introduce it and then make in Committee any changes your Committee might desire; and, as I have stated above, we can now do this. It seems to me that it would be well for your working committee to Confer with Senator Pritchard and myself as to a date when the Committee can give you a hearing, and when we arrange this hearing that then your Committee be ready to come and appear before the Senate Committee and present all of the arguments and facts at your command, why this matter should have favorable considerationand action. There is no session of the Senate to-day, so 1 have not had time to confer with Senator Pritcharei since receiving your letter; but 1 am satisfied that this suggestion will be approved by him, and it is ver^^ro*^^^ bable that he will write you the same thing. %fe^£i&#^ ' %L4jAA*4A%*,
