  • Mar. Feb. 5 1935 Dear Leonard The enclosed copy of Mr. Stearn’s letter is in answer to mine asking him to take charge of affairs in Bryson City. No word was sent to me about Mr. Coburn’s death. Nancy wrote me about it. Just what they intended doing about my business I can’t guess. Perhaps now the family party is broken up, we may get some place. Mr. Fingar will tend to any legal matter this end. Wish I could go down but wishes don’t happen to be fishes. Also wish I could mull things over with you. Can’t talk with Lucy, because she assumes the attitude that you all have a right to know the details of my business. Perhaps you have, but the Fernow tribe has not. Every thing would be laid before Fritz & his ideas forced on me. I know I am not business like, but even so it seems to me I should not be coerced.
