  • from Roy just came. The one from him yesterday was a pathetic S.O.S. He has been sent, after his army friends, to Narrowsburg. Perhaps by now he is ordered to stay in Masonville. These sudden changes of plans are most harrowing. The Fernows have discovered on their farm hundreds of Irish junipers growing wild. Karl had Prof Prof Cope out to see them. He says he never before saw them growing wild & there is a fortune in them. He said “if the Trumbulls had known about these, they could have kept the farm.” Lucy says they did know about them, but Mrs. T. thought them of no account & did not ask expert advice. Therefore another reason for going to the Bureau of C. & P. If you have not time to see to it, Stanley will be glad to write for me. Must go & unpack my toothbrush. Love to all Mama This is a borrowed pen, which accounts for the -worse-than-usual writing.
