  • Dearest family – July 12 - 1935 The man came after my typewriter yesterday. You should have seen the letter I wrote them. It was a jewel. I told them (wrote to Raleigh) about receiving the machine & what was wrong about it, & then I said “As I have to turn in a paper on Friday, &I can't write without my typewriter, you can see why I am slightly out of humor.” Anyway I got results. When he brings it back I have the bill of sale from the Co. in New York (marked paid) all ready to show them. Received your grandly long letter of July 6 yesterday, & am enclosing the first paragraph, Momma, will you please translate the underlined sentence? It's beyond my power of comprehension. No, it rains like this every summer. We’re very close to the ocean, & I think it's the humidity more than the heat that affects me so much. In the letter from Seattle they said that even if I did not come to school there, they would be glad to have me send one of my plays for criticism to their Seminar
