  • COLUMBUS (Concluded) REVENGE IS SWEET Last summer in a baseball game between the team from the H. H. Giesey & Brothers' organization and the Ritter team, our boys lost by one run. We are told by scientists that it takes sixty-four muscles of the face to make a frown and only thirteen to make a smile. Why not pursue the easier course. Proctor Enjoying a Picnic HAZEL CREEK Mr. J. W. Fisher spent a few days here this month. The B. Y. P. U. gave a social Tuesday evening, March 18th. A most pleasant evening was enjoyed by all present. On March 16th, Harve Queen was seen walking so straight he almost leaned backward and was wearing a broad smile. The reason: Twin boys, Hubert and Herbert. We understand that Messrs. E. B. McCollum and Ed Carddock have rented a small farm about two miles up the creek, and have entered into an agreement to take turns about hoeing corn while the other catches fish. The Proctor Graded School closed a very successful year with a two nights entertainment, March 14th. The eighth grade presented a comedy entitled "Josiah's Courtship," which was very well given on the 15th the smaller pupils presented another comedy entitled "The Last Chance." After two weeks of snow, ice, and cold weather, these balmy spring days have gotten most all of us in the notion of getting out the old fishing tackle and going after the trout. On February 28th, a number of persons were entertained at an informal dance given at the Club House by Messrs. Bruce Mosburger and M. V. Mcllvain. The rooms were prettily decorated and a delicious luncheon was served, including punch, which always makes a "hit." Mr. Glenn, who has been our planing mill engineer for several years, has accepted a position with the Andrews Manufacturing Company, and moved his family to Andrews, N. C. We wish him luck in his new place. Mr. Mack Hayes, who received an injury in the planing mill last month, is able to be out again. Mr. Ray Swan, our parquet machinist, made a business trip to East LaPort, recently. Mr. Henry Franklin, our store clerk, has moved into the house vacated by Rev. J. H. Wilson. Mr. Joe Hicks of Andrews, has returned to this place to take charge of the barber shop and poolroom. We are glad to welcome him back.
