  • DECEMBER 2 and 3 MT. LE CONTE VIA ALUM CAVE AND RETURN BY ANAKEESTA RIDGE LeConte, known to every hiker, climbed by every hiker and many visitors. Anakeesta ridge, the second and higher ridge opposite LeConte, and forming part of the well known and much talked of Huggins Hell, will thrill the best of hikers. Altho the trip down Anakeesta Ridge is but a comparatively short hike from LeConte, it will still give you a deeper appreciation of the ruggedness and wildness of the Smokies. We will start the hike at Grassy Patch, up LeConte via Alum Cave Peaks, with its varied trail giving many fine views of the surrounding peaks, ridges and what have you. The night will be spent on LeConte, first appeasing the ravishing appetite you have, then for the whoopee time around the log fire and then to bed on the balsam bunks. Next morning we go to Myrtle Point and on out the boulevard a short distance where we start down Anakeesta ridge which—Well, you will have to be there and see for yourself. We finish the trip by hopping a few rocks down the stream back to Grassy Patch. And by the way, if you like variety don't forget we get it on this trip—some trails as we have known them, the new "side walks the Park Rangers have built and the rough trail down Anakeesta Ridge—if you can see it. COME ONE, COME ALL and see for yourselt. Leave Dixie System at 1:00 p. m. Bring food for three meals, also canteen. Hiking distance about nine miles. Leaders: W. W. STANLEY (2-3277) HERBERT HUNZE (3-4745) 63
