In this letter of June 5, 1863 Henry Marshall Misemer (1832-1865) writes his “Dear wife,” Martha Misemer, from Nashville, Tennessee in view of the capital. He lets her know that he is there with all of her brothers and brothers-in-law. He says his entire calvary is made up of boys from East Tennessee and he knows a lot of them. He lists the foods that they get to eat and says that they waste more food than the Rebels get. He asks her to share with Betsy Hamilton that her husband George has given him a horse. Misemer lets Martha know that he sent her some money through a friend if she needs it. Otherwise he will give it to J. H. to credit his note.
