  • ... Mr. _______ President (or Sec. ) Board of Trade, (or Chamber of Commerce) Dear Sir:— The movement in the interest of a National Park situated in the Appalatchian System of mountains was inaugurated and held in Asheville November the 22nd, 1899. Since that time this movement has received very liberal support from North Carolina, and espe cially from Asheville. The movement still requires pushing in order to insure its success, and such agitation involves an expense of printing, postage, &c., which its patrons cannot expect reasonably to raise where so much has already been contributed. The membership committee have decided that they will make an effort through the Boards of Trade, and Chambers of Commerce in the leading Cities of our Qountry to secure memberships of at least fixzre in these cities, feeling sure that the national interest which this subject holds will appeal to public spirited people in all parts of the Country. Your co-operation in this matter in either organizing a membership of five or more,- or placing such orginization into the hands of some suitable person, will be very much appreciated by those who have the establishment of this Park at heart. There are no dues connected with the part Association, but a membership fee of Two ($2) Dollars is required for each member. Should you consider this matter merits your attention we will be glad indeed to hear from you reporting the new members secured. Trusting to hear fromyou favorably and promptly, Very truly yours, Bhai man Membership Committee National Appalachian Park Association. Dictated. a
