  • eastward along divide to Thunderhead. Distance, 5 to 6 miles. Tor alternate route on return, follow Defeat Ridge 1 rail, which goes down Defeat Ridge and ends in Walker's Valley. Distance, 5 to 6 miles. (i) From Tremont, Tenn. From Townsend follow auto railway to Tremont. Route starts from hotel at Tremont and follows R.R. for 0.75 mile along Sam's Creek to junction of Thunderhead Prong. Trail follows prong, which is east of Defeat Ridge, and tops out on State line at Mineral Gap, 0.9 mile east of 'Thunderhead. Distance, 5.5 miles. (4) From Cade's Cove, Tenn. Trail starts at end of road in Cade's Cove and goes up Anthony Creek to Bote Mountain, then to Spence Field on main divide and along divide to Thunderhead. Distance, 7 miles. (5) See SPENCE Field, for N. C. trails to Thunderhead. It is 2 miles from Spence Field to Thunderhead; and 1.25 miles from point where Haw Gap Branch trails top out on main divide to 'Thunderhead. Tricorner Knob: At junction of Balsam Mountain and "lain divide. (1) See Appalachian Trail. (2) Rosser 'Trail. See Yonaguska, Mr. (3) Buck Fork Trail, from Greenbrier, Tenn. Follow Little Pigeon River to Ramsey Prong; turn right and follow river to Buck Fork. Trail is up Buck Fork to Tricorner Knob. Distances: To Ramsey Prong, 3.45; Ramsey Prong to Buck Fork, 1.0; Buck Pork to Tricorner Knob, about 4 miles. Twenty-Mile Ridge: Leaving N.C. #288, follow Twenty-Mil,- Creek to Shuckstack Gap below and north of Shuckstack Mountain. From gap, trail follows Twenty-Mile Ridge to main divide. Distance from park boundary, about '5 miles. Class B Trail; fair. White Rock: On main divide. (1) See Appalachian Trail. (2) From Cosby. Drive on 'Tenn. #35 to Newport and 57
