  • (trail to left goes to Mt. Guyot) and continue along Littli Pigeon River and then up Chapman Prong. Trail is up a ndge to Mt. Chapman on main divide. Distance, about 10 miles one way. Last half of trail rugged. Chimney 'Tops: Leave cars at bridge above old Indian Gap Hotel site, just off Tenn. #71, and take Indian Gap trail. Round trip, 4 miles. Trail rough and extremely steep. Visible from Chimney Tops are Sugarland Valley and, to the north, Mt. LeConte, Alum Cave Peaks, Mt. Mingus, Mt. Kephart, the Sawteeth. Clingman's Dome: On State line. (1) See Appalachian Trail. (2) From Andrews Bald in N. C. Distance, 2.0 miles,! "lie way. Class B Trail in good condition. (See Andrews Bald for trails to that point.) Cold Springs Knoh: At junction of Miry Ridge and] main divide. (1) See Appalachian Trail. (2) Proctor Creek Trail. From N. C. #288 drive up Hazel Creek Road to mouth of Proctor Creek (inquire locally for information, upper 3.5 miles of road in a closed, privately controlled fishing preserve). Trail is up Proctor Creek to main divide, at Buckeye Gap, thence along divide westward to Cold Springs Knob. Hiking distance, about 4.5 miles. Class B Trail; fair, but last two miles to divide somewhat grown up with underbrush. Cold Springs Knob is a local name of long standing given on account of a spring of cold water near summit. Dalton's Gap: On State line near southwestern end of park. (1) See Appalachian Trail. (2) Twenty-Mile Creek Trail. Leaving N.C. #288, trail follows Twenty-Mile Creek and the Left Fork of Twenty-Mile Creek to Dalton's Creek. Turning left along Dalton's Creek, trail comes out at Dalton's Gap. Distance. about 5 miles. Class B Trail, good all the way. 44
